Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) takes the protection of your personal data seriously. We do not collect personal data from you except when specifically consented to and provided to us, in which case we undertake to protect the information we receive Once we receive your data , we  take all necessary measures to ensure its security on our systems. We taketechnical and organizational measures in conformity with industry standards to protect your data from manipulation, loss, destruction or access by unauthorized individuals. The personal data that you provide is stored in a secure location and accessible only by designated employees who are obliged to respect  MSF’s data privacy and protection policies.

Below, we have set out the principles based on which we collect and process personal data (information that identifies you or allows us to identify you) via this website and other websites and applications operated by MSF.

Collection of personal data

We meticulously collect and process your personal data, only for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy and only to the extent that is necessary for these purposes. We only store your personal data insofar and as long as is required for us to conduct our campaigns and activities or to the extent that we are required to do so by law.

Personal data is also collected by MSF for the purposes of sending out electronic communications containing the latest MSF news and updates.

Choosing to opt in to receiving such communications authorizes us to send you information via electronic means. This authorization comprises the sending of the following electronic communications:

  • Newsletters, relevant information on projects, fundraising campaigns and similar content; and
  • Information related to your activity and relationship with MSF.

Where applicable, these communications will be sent by: MSF.org; the national head offices; and MSF’s Access Campaign. At no point in this process will third parties have access to your personal data.

Data processing

We undertake to protect your personal data by taking adapted security measures and using secure servers. We have taken appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect the Website from loss, destruction or manipulation, as well as from access, modification or dissemination by unauthorized individuals.

In accepting the Privacy Policy linked to the conditions of use of MSF.org, you accept that your personal data will be transferred to Nationbuilder and Phone2Action in the United States of America.

MSF has signed standard outsourcing agreements with Nationbuilder and Phone2Action  forexternal data processing overseas.These agreements guarantee adequate protection of personal data (within the meaning of Article 6, paragraph 1 of the Data Protection Act) in the transfer of this data for data processing purposes.

MSF works in partnership with third parties to manage our digital communications, including providers of online campaigning tools to support the “A Fair Shot” Campaign.  MSF may collect, preserve and process data for the aims as set out in this policy, and may include the transfer of certain elements of this data to such third parties, who may be within the MSF movement or an agent acting on our behalf.

You will be able to access, at no charge to you, written information about the data stored by us, its usage and under certain circumstances, you may be able to modify, block or delete this data. Furthermore, you  will be able to at any time: consult your data stored by us; and revoke, without giving reasons, your permission for the collection, processing and use of your data.
